Savour Ontario Pears
The Restaurant @ Vineland Estates Winery
Creative Menu available for both Lunch and Dinner Service.
There have been several significant events which have impacted the growers and producers of such fruit. The most recent, and arguably most severe of these events is the closure of the CanGro fruit processing facility in St. David's. The processing of local products has been a main-stay for many of our ancestors, and now will be done only on a small scale for home-use or small, niche-product industries.
Niagara's pear crop, usually bound for processing, has found
a new 'stage' on which to shine; the menu.
The Culinary Team @ Vineland Estates Winery Restaurant, has responded to the local abundance as an opportunity to produce a pear-focused menu. The Menu, a wine-paired five course 'creative' tasting dinner, or a three course lunch, features pears in various creations. The pears, ranging from the petite Seckel pears, to the robust Barletts, are represented in each of the courses, braised, grilled, baked or dried, and show how remarkably versatile they are.
This creative menu is available until Sunday, October 26th, 2008.

Be the first to taste our 2008 Anniversary Vintage from our Riesling vines, 25 years in the making! Straight from the vines, taste the "juice" before it is processed into wine. Compare it to our 2007 Rieslings currently available.
